Transfer: All he does is commit fouls, pick up cards – Cascarino slams Man United’s latest signing

Ex-Republic of Ireland snd Chelsea striker, Tony Cascarino has questioned Manchester United’s £60m signing of 30-year-old Casemiro from Real Madrid.

The Chelsea legend compared the deal for Casemiro to that of signing of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in 2021.

Manchester United announced on Friday that they have reached agreement with Real Madrid for the signing of Casemiro and the Brazilian underwent part of his medical today.

The defensive midfielder will be unveiled to the fans before Manchester United’s home game against Liverpool on Monday.

He said: “It’s a big fee for a holding midfielder that is neccessary at the football club,” Casemiro told talkSPORT.

“I said last year when they bought Varane that he’s not the player who won the Champions League, he’s not quite as good as that anymore.

“I wouldn’t say that about Casemiro now because I watched him last year and he still has a lot to offer, but I looked at Varane and thought he wasn’t the same player because he had a lot of injuries in his career.

“One thing that Casemiro does is pick up a lot of cards. He does a lot of fouls, but some Man United fans will think that they need someone to break up the play and to stop the opposition, but it’s a big price to pay.”
