Napoli hopeful on Ostigard deal

Napoli are close to finalising a permanent deal with Brighton for centre-back Leo Ostigard.

Ostigard is expected to cost the Serie A side in excess of £4.2m with a significant sum on top in bonus payments.

The 22-year-old centre-back has been on Brighton’s books since 2018 but has spent the last three seasons out on loan.

He ended last season playing in Italy with Genoa after spending the first half of the campaign with Stoke City. He previously played on loan in Germany for St Pauli and had a stint with Coventry City as well.

Napoli hope to book the Norway international in for a medical once negotiations with Brighton are concluded.

Ostigard could be a long-term replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who continues to be linked with a move to Juventus should they sell Matthijs de Ligt.
