DC United manager Rooney not signing Luis Suarez: I want players who are hungry

Wayne Rooney is set to overlook glamour names as he looks to get DC United back on track.

The ex-Derby County manager has taken on the head coaching role with the MLS side, where he played during the end of his career.

Rooney, who is an England and Manchester United legend, is not going to make a move for the likes of veteran Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez

"I respect Luis Suarez a lot – he's an incredible player – but what I want players who are hungry," Rooney said as he was unveiled.

"I want players to come to this club who are hungry and who want to come to the club but also have a lot to give and are capable of playing every game, attending every training session.

"So we're working extremely hard to identify the right profile of players we want to bring in and I'm sure in the near future, we'll have an announcement to make on new signings."
