Ajax ready to break transfer record for Tottenham attacker Bergwijn

Ajax are ready to break their transfer record to secure the signing of Steven Bergwijn from Tottenham.

The Dutch winger is being linked with an exit from the North London club, as he is not first choice under manager Antonio Conte.

Dutch coach Louis van Gaal advised Bergwijn to move if he wanted to remain in his starting lineup ahead of the World Cup this winter.

According to the Evening Standard, Ajax are ready to pay more than the £20.25million they paid West Ham for Sebastien Haller in January 2021.

Spurs are willing to sell Bergwijn, but want to secure a big fee, as it will help with their reinvestment in the team.

As Ajax are looking to sell Haller to Borussia Dortmund, they want Bergwijn to help spearhead their new look attack.
