UEL final: How Aaron Ramsey reacted after missing penalty in Rangers’ defeat to Frankfurt

Rangers midfielder, John Lundstram says teammate, Aaron Ramsey has been left ‘heartbroken’ after his crucial penalty miss in Rangers’ Europa League final loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.

Frankfurt defeated Rangers in the Europa League final on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

Joe Aribo and Rafael Borre both scored for their respective teams in Seville to take the game to extra time.

However, during the tense shoot-out, marked by some exceptional spot-kicks, Ramsey, who came on as a substitute in the final minutes of extra time, stepped up but saw his effort saved by Kevin Trapp.

Frankfurt’s goal scorer Borre stepped up again to score the winner to give his team a 5-4 win over Rangers.

Speaking after the game, Lundstram offered some supportive words to his teammate, telling BT Sport: “It is a lottery. Anyone could have missed it.

“It could have been any of us on the pitch and unfortunately, it’s him. But he is absolutely heartbroken.”

Ramsey, a former Arsenal star, joined Rangers on deadline day in January, arriving on loan from Juventus until the end of the season.
