He showed maturity, kept Lacazette on bench – Troy Deeney lauds Arsenal star

Former Premier League striker, Troy Deeney, has lauded Eddie Nketiah for his excellent display during Arsenal’s Premier League 2-1 win over West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Deeney said Nketiah showed maturity during the encounter against West Ham, insisting that he kept Alexandre Lacazette on the bench.

Nketiah was a lively figure in Arsenal’s attack line as the Gunners defeated West Ham, thanks to two goals from Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes.

“I thought he [Nketiah] was excellent, he did everything,” Deeney told BBC’s Match of the Day 2.

A lot of the chances created were from his own doing. It was only his fourth [league] start [of the season] so to see that level of confidence was great.

The best compliment you can give him is that he kept Alexandre Lacazette on the bench, who didn’t look at him at any point.

“He really got at West Ham and used intelligent runs. On another day he scores. He really grew in the game and showed a level of maturity I didn’t know he had at this moment in time.”

Nketiah will hope to continue his impressive display for Arsenal when they face Leeds United next weekend.
