EPL: Thank you, Aston Villa – Klopp reacts as Man City win title ahead of Liverpool

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has thanked Aston Villa for making a proper game of their Premier League final day fixture at Manchester City.

Villa went two goals up at The Etihad, before City fought back to retain their title.

Meanwhile, at Anfield, Liverpool also came from behind to beat Wolves 3-2 but finished in second place behind the champions.

“I wasn’t really aware of [the City score changes]. In my mind it was 1-0. I don’t know all the story. There was one moment when it was 3-2 then I don’t know why we thought they’d equalised again. That was a good moment! But then everyone went, ‘ah nothing happened’.

“The season was so close, so tight. Moments, decisions, these kinds of things… What I’ve learnt about life is if you stay on track and keep going, you get your rewards. Not today, but we will get it,” Klopp said.

He added in an interview with Sky Sports: “Thank you to Aston Villa and Wolverhampton – they made a proper game of it.

“People think about integrity in football and I saw an opponent that was up for it.”
