EPL: ‘Nonsensical’ – Sinclair slams Tuchel over treatment of Chelsea’s costliest star

Former Chelsea defender, Frank Sinclair has slammed the club’s boss, Thomas Tuchel for snubbing Romelu Lukaku in their 1-0 defeat to Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Sinclair noted that Chelsea have a ‘massive’ problem on their hands after the Blues delivered another below-par display.

The Toffees boosted their survival hopes with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Goodison Park, with Cesar Azpilicueta mistake gifting Richarlison the only goal of the contest.

Despite the Blues searching for an equaliser, Tuchel refused to look the way of Lukaku, who is the club’s record signing.

The German, instead, introduced wide players Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic with 23 minutes remaining.

Lukaku, who was brought back from Inter Milan for £97million in the summer, cut a forlorn figure on the bench.

And Sincalir feels it’s now inevitable the 28-year-old would leave.

“Regarding Romelu Lukaku there’s a masssive problem there,” he told Stadium Astro.

“For me, with ten minutes to go in a game that you need a goal and you’ve got a player who has scored so many goals and so many good feelings at this football club, for me it was nonsensical not to bring him on and give him 10 or 15 minutes to try and change the game and get something out of it.”

“To leave him on the bench I was quite surprised with. They’ve obviously put a lot money into bringing him back to the football club…I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go.”

Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League table but could still lose the position to Arsenal or Tottenham who are breathing down their neck after important victories at the weekend.

Tottenham and Arsenal kept their top four hopes alive with victories over Leicester City and West Ham United on Sunday.
