EPL: Chelsea players that could leave, stay as Todd Boehly takes over from Abramovich revealed

The players that could leave and stay at Chelsea as American billionaire, Todd Boehly, takes over from Roman Abramovich have been revealed.

Boehly and his consortium had last weekend agreed to a deal with Chelsea to buy the West London club from Abramovich.

His new era at Stamford Bridge must begin with an overhaul this summer ahead of next season.

However, Sportsmail has rated each player and their chances of staying or leaving Chelsea this summer as Boehly takes charge of the Premier League giants.

Edouard Mendy – There can be no complaints about this one. The Senegal international will stay at Chelsea because his heroics have kept Thomas Tuchel’s side alive since his arrival.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – It just hasn’t worked out for the Spain international at Chelsea. Kepa will leave Chelsea.

Antonio Rudiger – This is a decision that has already been made. Rudiger will indeed leave Chelsea this summer, with reports claiming he has already agreed on a deal with Real Madrid.

Marcos Alonso – The left-back is another player seemingly destined for the exit door. He was taken off just after half-time against Wolves, a tactical decision from his manager, Thomas Tuchel. The Spaniard could leave the Blues as he is linked with a move to Barcelona.

Andreas Christensen – Christensen just doesn’t have the physicality or ability to start for Chelsea heading into next season. He has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. He could leave Stamford Bridge.

Thiago Silva – After penning a contract extension a few months ago, Silva is likely to stay at Chelsea until the end of the next season, in what may be his final year in the Premier League.

Trevoh Chalobah – Chalobah will certainly stay at Chelsea. His manager, Thomas Tuchel, was the one to block him from leaving on loan last summer.

Ben Chilwell – This is a no-brainer. Chilwell looked set to be one of the best fullbacks in world football this season before he was forced to undergo knee surgery. He will also remain at Chelsea.

Reece James – It is understood that one of Todd Boehly’s first priorities at the helm of the Stamford Bridge outfit is to renew James’ contract. The England defender will certainly stay at Chelsea.

Cesar Azpilicueta – The Chelsea captain looks likely to leave with Barcelona firmly in the race to sign him, but with his experience, the Blues could extend his contract by a further one year.

Malang Sarr – Sarr was made to look foolish in Chelsea’s 4-2 defeat against Arsenal a few days ago, a performance which showed once and for all that he is just not good enough for Chelsea and could leave this summer.

Jorginho – The Italy international could leave Chelsea. He enjoyed a superb 2021, having also won Euro 2020 with Italy, but has dropped away from his best form as of late. Chelsea could sign West Ham’s Declan Rice to replace Jorginho.

N’Golo Kante – Despite him showing signs of his advancing age, Kante is still his side’s standout midfield enforcer. The France World Cup winner is also well respected and adored by the squad.

Mateo Kovacic – Chelsea have missed the creativity of Kovacic while he has been absent through injury, and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will be desperate to get him back in his team.Saul Niguez – What a disastrous loan spell this has turned out to be for Niguez. He is almost certain to return to his parent club, Atletico Madrid, this summer.

Ross Barkley – He has benefitted from Chelsea shuffling their ranks at times this season, but Barkley is not a regular under Tuchel and, as a result, will certainly go this summer.

Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz – The four players will all certainly stay at Chelsea this summer.

Romelu Lukaku, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Kenedy – The current situation of these players at Chelsea means they could either leave or stay at the club due to their performances for the club this season.
