Barcelona legend, Rivaldo, has warned Liverpool that they ‘can end up surprised’ when they face Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League semi-final tie later this month.
Liverpool qualified for the Champions League semi-final earlier this week after eliminating Benfica in the quarter-final encounter.
Villarreal, meanwhile, surprised many as they knocked out Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in a 2-1 aggregate win.
Both Liverpool and Villarreal will now face each other in the last-4 for a place in the final.
And Rivaldo has now warned the Premier League giants that Unai Emery’s side will not make the tie easy for them.
“At the moment, it is clear that Liverpool are favorites to eliminate Villarreal not only because of the quality of their team but also because of their history and tradition in the Champions League,” Rivaldo told Betfair.
“In any case, the Spanish team have already shown that it can face any team and Jurgen Klopp’s team cannot make it easy or can end up surprised.”
