It will cost Manchester United less than £2 million to bring in Erik ten Hag from Ajax, the UK Mirror reports.
United initially thought they needed to pay the Dutch club just under £5m as compensation for the final 12 months of Ten Hag’s contract.
But it has now been revealed the 52-year-old has a get-out clause in the deal he signed a year ago and that it can be triggered for just €2m (£1.68m).
That will represent a bargain for United, even though Paris St Germain are unlikely to demand compensation for Mauricio Pochettino should the Argentine want to walk away at the end of the season.
It will cost the PSG around £17m to sack Pochettino and his backroom staff.
Both Ten Hag and Pochettino are the major frontrunners to be named United’s next permanent manager.
