Ronaldo admits smashing fan’s phone after Man Utd lost 1-0 to Everton

Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has admitted he smashed a supporter’s phone following their 1-0 defeat at Everton on Saturday.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the 37-year-old apologized for his actions.

A video showing Ronaldo smashing the phone of an Everton fan as he made his way down the tunnel at Goodison Park went viral on social media.

The Portugal captain appeared to throw the object to the ground with his right hand.

Ronaldo and his United team-mates were being booed and heckled when the incident unfolded.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote: “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing. Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set an example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.

“I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship.”
