Bayern Munich president provides update on Robert Lewandowski contract talks

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has revealed that a second round of contract talks with star striker Robert Lewandowski will soon take place.

The 33-year-old has less than 18 months left to run on his existing deal with the German champions and continues to be strongly linked with a summer switch to Barcelona.

The Catalans are supposedly willing to go all out to sign Lewandowski to a three-year deal this summer, but Hainer is not giving up hope of the Poland international staying put in Bavaria

Hainer is also optimistic about the prospect of new terms for Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer, telling Bild: "A conversation took place with Lewandowski - and a second one is scheduled. The talks will continue. Things are looking very good with Muller and Neuer, talks are advanced."

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has also claimed that Lewandowski will "definitely" stay at Bayern for the 2022-23 season, with the Bundesliga giants reluctant to sell to Barcelona.

The former Borussia Dortmund man set up two goals in Sunday's 3-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld to take his tally for the club to 341 goals and 71 assists in 371 appearances since 2014
