EPL: Guardiola gives reason for Grealish’s lack of game time at Man City

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has given the reason for Jack Grealish’s lack of game time for the club so far this season.

Grealish, who joined Man City from Aston Villa for a club-record £100m last summer, has not enjoyed the most positive of seasons, scoring just two goals and providing two assists in the Premier League.

The England international has started 19 times in the league this season.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of Man City’s Premier League tie with Leeds United on Saturday, Guardiola said Grealish’s lack of game time for Man City is down to ‘tactical reasons’, explaining that he simply cannot drop Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden at present.

He said: “He [Grealish] can [have an impact]. Nothing changes just because in that position, Riyad has been with us for a long time and in important games, he gives you something unique and special.

“And Phil Foden is so determined, his will and many things. Phil, always, his impact in the game is huge – it’s just for that reason.”
