World Cup 2022: Super Eagles disqualification, good for Nigeria – Williams Uchemba

Nollywood actor, Williams Uchemba has said the disqualification of the Super Eagles from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after losing to the Black Stars of Ghana is needed for Nigeria to realise it is in a ‘hell hole’.

The 2022 World Cup Qualifiers between Nigeria and Ghana on Tuesday ended 1-1 draw at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

The Black Stars progressed to the World Cup on away goals, having drawn 0-0 in the first leg last week in Kumasi.

Citing the recent attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train and heightened insecurity in the country, Uchemba said missing out on the World Cup would make Nigeria channel anger and pay serious attention to the issues in the nation.

“Maybe it is good we lost, so we can channel our anger on the pressing issue in the country. Almost 1000 Nigerian citizens cannot be accounted for and some people are acting like it’s a normal thing.

“If it takes losing a match to get us upset enough and know that we’re in a hell hole, so be it. Some heads of state are yet to make a statement on the issue. I guess they’re busy planning for the 2023 elections, Uchemba wrote on Instagram.

The Black Stars of Ghana qualification earned them one of the five tickets for African representatives at the tournament billed for Qatar this year.
