W/Cup qualifier: You should be ashamed – Bale slams Real Madrid, critics after scoring against Austria

Wales captain, Gareth Bale has criticised Real Madrid after helping his country to book a place in the final World Cup playoff on Thursday.

The Welshman also slammed the recent criticism of him in the Spanish press as ‘disgusting’.

Bale made a pointed comment on his lack of game time under Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu.

Bale showed no signs of rustiness despite playing just two appearances for the LaLiga giants since the end of August.

The 32-year-old scored twice in a Man-of-the-Match performance during his country’s 2-1 victory over Austria in their World Cup qualification play-off.

Bale had been the subject of an astonishing attack from the Spanish newspaper Marca, who accused him of ‘sucking’ Real Madrid’s money.

Asked if he had sent a message to those critics with his performance on Thursday night, Bale told Sky Sports: “I don’t need to send a message, honestly.

“I don’t need to send anything, it’s a waste of my time. It’s just disgusting and they should also be ashamed of themselves. I’m not fussed.”

Real Madrid boss, Ancelotti has frequently overlooked Bale this season, and the former Tottenham winger added, “I can hit a free-kick if I am able to play! It was nice to see it go in. “
