I feel pity for Nigeria, referee was against us in Abuja – Ghana coach, Otto Addo

Ghana national team coach, Otto Addo, has said that he felt pity for the Super Eagles of Nigeria because they were better during both teams’ 2022 FIFA World second leg playoff in Abuja on Tuesday.

Addo also insisted that the referee that officiated the match was a bit against the Black Stars during the tie.

He said this while reacting to his team’s qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.

DAILY POST reports that Nigeria and Ghana played 1-1 at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, following goals from Thomas Partey and William Troost-Ekong.

The Black Stars booked their place in the World Cup via away goal, having played goalless in Kumasi in the first leg last Friday.

“If you see the chances, in all the Nigerians were better,” Addo told Joy Sports Ghana after the game.

“I feel a bit pity for them, and this is football sometimes, we got our ways through. The referee was against us somehow.”
