Go, beat Ghana, Dare charges Eagles

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has charged the Super Eagles to get a win against Ghana in Kumasi, when both sides meet in the first leg of their 2022 World Cup play-off at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The minister made the statement during his visit to the team at the main bowl of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Wednesday.

Dare tasked the players to take out their anger and disappointment of their AFCON exit on Ghana on Friday despite playing away from home.

“We’ve put Cameroon and the Cup of Nations behind us. What I said after the exit in Cameroon was that we are angry at Ghana. We’re not going to Ghana for a draw. You guys just do your thing and have fun,” Dare said while addressing the players in Abuja.

“You guys (players) are core professionals and you have a professional technical crew working with you and I think you will do Nigeria proud and I hope that when you return to Abuja on the 29th, it will be a mere formality.

“We know the antics of Ghana, because of this match; I’ve gone back to school. What I mean is that I’ve researched Ghana, researched Kumasi, researched the games they’ve won, their players, I have read every scouting report about them.”

Dare says he is also delighted with the feedback he has received from the players on the state of the Abuja stadium.

“I wish you the best, all I can do is pray and support you. I had to give you a good pitch here, I’m glad they like it.”
