I’m pleased with you – Thomas Tuchel tells Chelsea’s ‘game changer’ after 2-0 win over Lille

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has said that he was pleased with N’Golo Kante, after the midfielder shook off his struggles to put up a better performance against Lille in the Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday night.

The German hailed Kante for his performance in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over the French champions, admitting the midfielder has ‘struggled’ in recent games.

Kante delivered a man-of-the-match display as Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic scored one each to give the home side the victory at Stamford Bridge.

He made an impressive run through midfield and created the second goal for Pulisic and the German boss described the 30-year-old as Chelsea’s ‘game-changer’.

“I was very pleased today,” Tuchel told reporters while talking about Kante’s performance after the game.

“It took him a while, I have to say. It was not the real N’Golo in the last matches.

“He struggled a bit in belief, in his intensity and in his game in general.

“It was good that he stepped up today, it was good to see and you can instantly see how big the impact is if he is in good shape.

“He is our game-changer, of course. He had a huge impact, I’m very happy for him and the team,” he noted.
