The second Crown Elite Basketball Championship dunked off Monday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos with Kwara Falcons edging Ebun Comets 48-45, while Lagos Islanders beat University of Lagos 60-55 in Group A.
In Group B, Dodan Warriors lost 69-59 to Raptors, as Lagos Legends triumphed over Rivers Hoopers 62-57.
The five-day tournament, organised by Crown Elite Sports, features eight teams vying for a chance to win cash prizes, awards and an opportunity to participate in a US basketball tour.
According to the organisers, this year’s event promises to be more engaging and entertaining and includes dunk and shooting contests, entertainment, as well as prizes for the fans.
“We are especially excited to have the opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s best basketball talents on the national and international stage,” Crown Elite Sports said in a statement on Tuesday.
The champions of the 2022 Crown Elite Basketball Championship will go home with N1.5m, with the first runners-up getting N1m, while the second runners-up will receive N500,000.
In the fans experience event, Ayomide Kudehinbu and Dr Folasade Airebawa won N5,000 each in the three-point contest, while Mrs. Joy Koko won N50,000 in the middle of the court contest.
