Carabao Cup final: Owen predicts winner between Chelsea vs Liverpool, names player to score

Former Manchester United striker, Michael Owen has predicted the winner between Chelsea and Liverpool when both teams clash in the Carabao Cup final this weekend.

Chelsea and Liverpool will clash in the Carabao Cup final at the Wembley Stadium, on Sunday evening.

The Blues head to the game following a 2-0 victory over Lille in the Champions League, while Liverpool thrashed Leeds United 6-0 in the Premier League.

Providing his prediction, Owen told BetVictor that Liverpool would beat Chelsea 2-1 in the final, backing Mohamed Salah to score the winning goal.

The former Real Madrid star said, “This is a difficult one to call. Chelsea have been winning, but I don’t think they have been playing well. There is clearly an issue with Lukaku, and Thomas Tuchel has a big decision to make for this game. Defensively they remain top-class, they will need to be at their best here.

“Liverpool have hit their best form of the season. The squad is looking so strong, and Klopp has some big decisions to make. For so long that front three picked itself, but with the likes of Jota and Luis Diaz in such good form, that is no longer the case.

“Winning a trophy at Wembley is the one thing missing from Klopp’s Liverpool trophy cabinet, they will be really up for this. I think it will be a close game, but I think Liverpool will edge it. 2-1, and I wouldn’t be shocked if Salah scored the winner.”
