Manchester United are assessing the availability of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The central midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and Gladbach are willing to sell him in January to secure some funds for the player.
However, Zakaria is wanted by a host of clubs, including Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
According to the Daily Mirror, United are tracking his availability, but would have to convince him to make the move to Old Trafford over the other top teams also vying for his signature.
Zakaria is available for free in the summer, but United need a midfielder urgently, and may believe a January bid is their best chance to steal a march on the other teams who also want to sign him.
