AFCON: Nigeria’s assistant coach, Joseph Yobo names ‘game-changer’ in Super Eagles squad

Nigeria’s assistant coach, Joseph Yobo has identified Alex Iwobi as a “game-changer” in the Super Eagles squad.

Yobo said that Iwobi could change the game when things are hard for the Super Eagles, adding that the former Arsenal star is very important for the team.

The former Super Eagles captain said this ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, tie against Egypt on Tuesday evening.

“Alex [Iwobi] is a big, big player for us in the national team,” Yobo told Everton’s official website.

“He trains hard every day – he is our game-changer. When things are hard, he can change things for us.

“He works his socks off and, technically, he is very good.

“He has the skill and the energy to run at players and trackback, he can do all that. And he has an eye for goal.

“He is very important for Nigeria and I believe he can be for Everton, too.”

Iwobi is expected to play a key role for Nigeria as they aim to win the 2021 AFCON for the fourth time.

The 25-year-old star has won 50 senior caps for Nigeria and scored nine goals.
