Why Chelsea rely on Mason Mount – Tuchel

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has insisted that his team rely on Mason Mount because the midfielder plays in an offensive position.

According to Tuchel, Mount has the technique, ability and movement to assist and score goals.

Mount was impressive for Chelsea over the weekend as he scored a goal in Chelsea’s 3-2 victory over Leeds United.

His past five Premier League starts have yielded six goals.

“We rely on him [Mason Mount] because he plays in an offensive position,” Tuchel was quoted by Chelsea’s official website as saying ahead of the Blues Premier League tie with Everton on Thursday.

“He needs to be decisive and assist and score because he has the technique, the ability and the movement to do so. It’s about timing, acceleration and knowing where and when to arrive in the box.

“It’s about connections between Reece and him most of the time, depending on which side he plays. We cannot be surprised that sometimes in the careers of young players, they have difficult moments. That’s why they are young players, and why their careers are at the beginning and not the end.”

Tuchel added, “The thing is to take care of him, guide him through these moments, to push him and trust him with what we do.”
