Liverpool star Mohamed Salah wants assurances about the club's plans for the coming years.
According to Sky Sports, financial terms are not the only issue holding back Salah from extending his deal at the Anfield club.
While he does want to earn a higher wage than is being offered, Salah also wants to ensure he will play for a club that challenges for major honours.
The 29-year-old wants to know that Liverpool will invest in the best players in the world to build a team that contends for league titles and Champions Leagues.
Fans will be hoping that Salah renews, given his vital goalscoring contributions this season.
The former Roma forward has bagged 20 goals in 21 appearances so far.
Salah has publicly stated his desire to stay at Liverpool, telling MBC Masr TV: "I said it several times, if the decision is up to me, I want to stay in Liverpool.
"But the decision is in the hands of the management and they have to solve this issue.
"There is no problem but we have to reach an agreement for the contract. It's up to them.
"Your financial value shows how much the club appreciates you and that they are ready to do anything for you to stay, but the decision itself is not based on those financial matters only.
"There are things like the ambition of the team and the coach and what he wants to do with the team and the players he wants. These are all important points when making the decision."
