Michael Owen reveals one match that’ll end Chelsea’s Premier League title hope

Manchester United icon, Michael Owen has told Chelsea that their next game against Liverpool is a big decider if they will still be in the race for the title.

He warned that the Blues cannot afford any more ‘slip-ups’, adding that if they do, they could be out of the Premier League title race.

Chelsea have drawn three of their last four matches, falling eight points behind Manchester City and narrowly above Liverpool with one point having played one more game.

Chelsea recorded a frustrating draw against Brighton on Wednesday night and Owen pointed out that their title hopes are on the line ahead of Sunday’s home match against Liverpool.

“You’d have to think that they [Chelsea] have to get four points out of those two, otherwise they could be the first team out of the big three to drop out of contention,” Owen told Premier League productions.

“Liverpool are sitting there, a point behind, but they have got a game in-hand. That game at Stamford Bridge – wow. That could be almost an eliminator.”

Owen, a former Liverpool striker, noted that even if Jurgen Klopp’s Reds suffer defeat in the hands of Thomas Tuchel’s Blues, they still have the capability of bouncing back and going on a winning run like Man City are doing at the moment.

According to him, Chelsea cannot “afford any more slip-ups now. I think they need four points out of the next two.”

Liverpool suffered a 1-0 loss to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday, while Chelsea’s poor performance saw them draw Brighton, leaving them in second, 8 points behind Manchester City.
