Mark Lawrenson predicts outcome of Chelsea vs Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, others

Former Liverpool player, Mark Lawrenson has predicted the outcome of some of the Premier League match-day 17 fixtures.

Chelsea will host Everton on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge, while Arsenal will face West Ham on Wednesday at Emirates.

Leicester City will host Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium on Thursday, and Liverpool will clash with Newcastle United.

Manchester United’s match against Brentford on Tuesday night was postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19 within the visitors’ squad.

Providing his prediction, Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Arsenal don’t seem to have the same problems at Emirates Stadium as they do on the road – along with Manchester City, their home form is the joint best in the Premier League with six wins, a draw and a defeat so far.

“The Hammers were nowhere near their best in their draw at Burnley on Sunday and, although they are still fourth, they have only won one of their past five games. Arsenal 2, West Ham 1.”

Commenting on the Leicester vs Tottenham tie, Lawrenson said, “We don’t know who was affected, or how many players are still out, but if they are at less than full strength, then that will obviously favour the Foxes.

“Leicester have had their own issues with illness and injury, but they rested Jamie Vardy at the weekend, so he will be fresh for this one. Leicester 2-1 Tottenham.”

Speaking on the Chelsea vs Everton game, Lawrenson said, “Chelsea have not been at their best at either end recently, but they should still have too much for the Toffees, who have lost four away games on the trot going into this one. Chelsea 2-0 Everton.”

Commenting on the Liverpool vs Newcastle game, Lawrenson said, “We saw again in their heavy defeat against Leicester what a big job Magpies manager Eddie Howe has on his hands to keep them up, and I can’t see them getting a result here that will help them out there. Liverpool 3-0 Newcastle.”
