Liverpool matchwinner Origi enjoyed 'beautiful night' at AC Milan

Liverpool striker Divock Origi was delighted to prove the matchwinner in their Champions League triumph at AC Milan.

The Reds completed a perfect group-stage campaign with a sixth victory as strikes by Mohamed Salah and then Origi – with a precise reaction header – overturned a first-half deficit at the iconic San Siro.

“It was a beautiful night. We enjoyed it," said Origi, who was named UEFA's Player of the Match.

“I think as a team we played very well. We all wanted to play our best game, playing in San Siro – a beautiful stadium, a historical stadium – against a very strong team. That's what we live for.

“We tried to give our best and, in the end, being able to win 2-1, for us is the best thing."

Origi was named in the starting XI by Jürgen Klopp three days on from his stoppage-time finish to earn Liverpool a dramatic 1-0 result at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

“I would say I tried to play my game as much as possible and enjoy [it]," continued the No.27. “Being on the pitch, for me is an honour, it's a joy. It's something I love so much.

“Being able to express yourself on the highest level in the Champions League is what you work so hard for. Today, being able to score and help the team, it's a very nice feeling."
