Zac Stacy, a former Jets running back, has claimed his ex-girlfriend staged a video of him brutally attacking her, by provoking him into it, because she wanted money from him.

The NFL star was arrested in Orlando, Florida after attacking his girlfriend, Stacy Evans, in front of their infant son on November 13.

Shocking home surveillance footage released after the alleged assault showed Stacy, 30, repeatedly punching his ex in the head before slamming her into a television.

The violence reportedly began during an argument. Stacy became furious and aggressive during the argument and he attacked her, swinging at her head before yanking her off a couch, tossing her across the room and into the TV.

The TV then falls on top of the woman as she tries to calm Stacy down but he throws an object at her and storms out before returning to continue.

The woman later called cops immediately after the altercation, but Stacy fled the scene before law enforcement was able to arrive.

TMZ obtained the video of Stacy’s arrest in which he said Evans had “staged” the video because she was “bitter” he did not want to be in a long-term relationship with her.

“It’s unfortunate because I just got out of rehab for anxiety and depression like eight months ago,” Stacy told cops.

“I dropped everything to come down here and support the mother of my child in her last trimester, and the baby. I let her know I wasn’t trying to be with her or nothing like that. This is a case of just bitterness. That’s why she did this. The whole assault thing. She staged it. She set me up.”

Stacy accused Evans of having an affair with his lawyer, which he said he found out about a week before his arrest. He said the lawyer was a college teammate of his.

Stacy said that the timeline was that he left his job in Nashville earlier this year, went to rehab in March, and moved to Florida in April to support Evans through the end of her pregnancy.

“Unfortunately I came down here and played house with her,” Stacy said.

“She thought something else was going to be on and she tried to make it about everything else except for me supporting her and the baby. I filed a petition on her to just get my rights on paper, and she’s just been — I don’t know if it’s postpartum — she’s just been unstable ever since.”

Stacy continued to allege that his ex-girlfriend “staged” the incident.

“I wasn’t allowed to see my child because when I’d come over to the house I’m disrespectful if I don’t acknowledge her, whatever that means,” he said. “The whole thing was staged. All she’s trying to do is get money out of it. She got a reaction out of me. She knew I was down. She knew I was going through anxiety and depression. She knew I was trying to close the gap between me and my son. She’s just upset because she got caught and she’s upset I’m not taking care of her like she thought, and now she took it this far.”

Stacy later admitted that it was “f–ked up” the way he reacted and didn’t know how he would’ve handled it differently if presented with the same situation again.

“This is just a case of girl is bitter I don’t want to be with her. She’s trying to destroy my reputation over this s–t,” Stacy said. “It’s f–ked up that I reacted the way I did. I don’t know how any man could’ve handled that situation.”
