Rudi Garcia in shock move to Manchester Utd to become next manager

Former Lyon head coach, Rudi Garcia, is set for a shock move to Manchester United to become their next manager.

Andy Mitten said Man United approached Garcia about the interim role ahead of their 2-0 victory against Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night in Spain.

The Premier League giants have held talks with the 57-year-old to take over until the end of the season.

Recall that Man United recently sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as its manager and put Michael Carrick to temporarily take charge of the first team.

Garcia took over a Lyon side that was 14th in the French Ligue 1 and steered them to the UEFA Champions League semi-final and the French cup final.

His side received praise for knocking out Manchester City and Juventus en route to the semi-final.

He has a good track record of developing young players and was instrumental in Memphis Depay‘s growth while at Lyon.

Garcia also did a commendable job at AS Roma, guiding them to two second-place finishes in Serie A behind Juventus.

Taking over a 15th place Marseille side in October 2016, Garcia led them to the UEFA Europa League final.

Garcia has coached the likes of Eden Hazard, Lucas Digne, Gervinho, Kostas Manolas, Maxence Caqueret, Maxwell Cornet and Houssem Aouar in the past.
