Man Utd vs Man City: Solskjaer gives injury update on Varane ahead of EPL clash

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided the latest injury update on Raphael Varane ahead of his side’s Premier League derby with Manchester City on Saturday at Old Trafford.

Varane started in a back-three, alongside Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly during Man United’s Champions League 2-2 draw against Atalanta on Tuesday night but hobbled off shortly before half-time.

But Solskjaer is now saying that Varane suffered a hamstring injury during Man United’s Champions League clash against Atalanta.

Recall that Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace ensured Man United got a point against Atalanta.

Asked about Varane’s condition, Solskjaer said at his post-match press conference after Man United’s draw with Atalanta: “He felt his hamstring. So of course, you can’t take any risks, unfortunately.

“Rafa has been such a calming influence when he’s on the pitch. We lost him, but that is football.

“We will have to have a look at him tomorrow, but the first assessment doesn’t look good.”
