It was penalty – Roy Keane hits Carrick after Man Utd 1-1 draw with Chelsea

Former Man United captain, Roy Keane has hit hard on the club’s caretaker boss, Michael Carrick for saying the referee made a mistake in awarding Chelsea a penalty during the 1-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Keane said he disagreed with ‘everything’ Carrick said after the Premier League draw.

Jorginho’s penalty earned Chelsea a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, after the Italy International gifted Jadon Sancho the first goal with an error early into the second half.

Carrick said he was ‘proud’ of the team after the game, also claiming Chelsea were fortunate to be awarded a penalty after Aaron Wan-Bissaka fouled Thiago Silva in the box.

“I don’t think it was a penalty at all,” Carrick told Sky Sports.

But Keane slammed his former teammate, saying, “I disagree with everything he said in that interview. Everything he said.

“He’s talking about a plan, he’s talking about the penalty. Of course it’s a penalty. We’ve all looked at it and it’s a penalty.

“He’s talking about effort and he’s proud of them. He’s been working with them for months under Ole. All of a sudden he’s proud of them?

“Why aren’t they making an effort in the other games? He’s praising players for doing their jobs. It’s ridiculous.”
