It hurts me – Iniesta Opens up on Messi, Barcelona Broken Relationships

Barcelona legend, Andres Iniesta has opened up on Lionel Messi’s broken relationship with the club.

The midfielder admitted that it hurts to see Barcelona icon, Lionel Messi wearing shirt of another club.

The Argentine left the Catalan side in the summer after his long term relationship with the club broke down.

The 34-year-old is now at Paris Saint-Germain having signed with the French side several months ago when he became a free agent.

Barcelona’s financial difficulties was one of the major reasons cited for Messi’s sudden departure.

Iniesta, a former teammate and fellow La Masia graduate, said he would have loved the Argentine to remain at the club but admitted that there are some situations man cannot change.

Iniesta told AS: “I don’t know whether to call it sadness because of what it meant. He changed teams, but there are situations that can change and each one sees them in a way.

“That is the law of life and goes beyond the fact that I would have liked him to have continued at Barça. It is difficult to give an opinion from the outside.

“I understand that the club did everything it could. I don’t think the club didn’t want Leo to be there. From then on, they only know what could have happened.

“It is rare to see Messi with another shirt. I would have liked him to have continued. After so many years, wearing another shirt hurts. But it can happen, as it has happened. Each one takes his own way.”

Barcelona appointed Messi and Iniesta’s former teammate, Xavi Hernandez to take over as the club’s manager last week with rumours that Messi might return to the club.

Xavi has already brought back legendary Brazilian defender, Dany Alves to the club as he looks to add experience players to the team.
