Ballon d’ Or 2021: Falcao names player to win award

Brazil legend, Paulo Roberto Falcão, has backed Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah, to win the 2021 Ballon d’ Or.

Falcao believes Salah has a chance to win the Ballon d’Or this year because of his brilliant performances for Liverpool and Egypt.

Salah, who scored 31 goals last season for Liverpool, has continued his great form in the 2021-2022 season already scoring 15 goals and registering six assists in 15 games for the Reds.

The Egyptian international became the highest African top scorer in the Premier League history this season, surpassing Didier Drogba’s record of 104 goals.

Salah’s performances earned a spot in the 30-man nominees shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or recently and Falcao believes the forward has a good chance of winning the prestigious individual award this year.

“Mohamed Salah, in the past few years, has made Egyptian football known to the world,” Falcao told Al-Hayah TV.

“Salah has a chance to win the Ballon d’Or this year, as he put on great performances with Liverpool.

“The Egyptian national team deserves to be present in the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar, because it has distinguished players.”

The winner of the 2021 Ballon d’ Or will be announced on November 29.
