It’s Anfield, Old Trafford – Guardiola throws dig at Liverpool, Man Utd

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has aimed a dig in the direction of Liverpool and Manchester United after being left unimpressed by the officials during his side’s Premier League 2-2 against Jurgen Klopp’s side on Sunday.

Guardiola was obstinate Liverpool should have been reduced to ten men during Sunday’s clash at Anfield after James Milner, who was already on a yellow card, chopped down Bernardo Silva.

Referee Paul Tierney awarded Man City a free-kick but didn’t pull out a second yellow card, while VAR didn’t intervene as it wasn’t deemed a ‘clear and obvious error’.

But Guardiola reacted angrily on the sidelines and his mood got that bit worse just minutes later when Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a 2-1 lead, after earlier goals from Sadio Mane and Phil Foden.

However, Kevin de Bruyne’s deflected shot in the 81 minutes ensured both teams shared a point each.

Reacting to the development after the game, Guardiola said at his post-match press conference, “It’s a [second] yellow card. It’s a yellow card. It’s clear.

“It’s Anfield, it’s Old Trafford. In our situation, a City player is sent off.

“It’s too much clear. It was a second yellow.”

He added, “Unfortunately, we couldn’t win – but we didn’t lose. That’s why the Premier League is the best [that it could go either way]. It was great, really great.”

Man City’s next Premier League game is against Burnley at Etihad after the international break.
