Ian Wright hails ‘scary’ Ruben Loftus-Cheek after Chelsea beat Southampton

Former Arsenal forward, Ian Wright, has singled out Chelsea star, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, for praise after the Thomas Tuchel’s side defeated Southampton 3-1 in a Premier League clash on Saturday.

Wright said Loftus-Cheek was ‘dangerous’ against Southampton, adding that the midfielder was magnificent during the encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea defeated Southampton at home, thanks to three goals from Trevoh Chalobah, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell.

“What was good about Ruben Loftus-Cheek is that after the injury he had while going to Fulham, I didn’t think we would ever see him go back to this kind of form.

“The display today was magnificent. People say Ruben Loftus-Cheek about his energy and it looked like he was playing by himself.

“But today, in his own box, in midfield, everything. One of the things he’s going to have to do to stay in this Chelsea team, especially as someone who played in a pivot as a [midfield] two, is score more goals.

“The power, the skill, he’s got everything. People say he hasn’t got the energy, look at him now, this is scary.”

“Looking at Ruben Loftus-Cheek who looks to me like he’s got the fire in his belly back. He’s dangerous.”

Chelsea’s next game is against Brentford on October 16.
