Barcelona shortlist three managers to coach club after sacking Koeman

Barcelona have shortlisted three managers to coach the club after sacking Ronald Koeman.

Recall that Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, sacked Koeman following Barcelona’s LaLiga 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night.

“FC Barcelona have relieved Ronald Koeman of his duties as first-team coach.

“FC Barcelona wishes to thank him for his service to the Club and wishes him all the best in his professional career,” Barcelona’s statement read.

The Catalan club have made a woeful start to the season under Koeman, winning just four of their opening 10 LaLiga games.

The Blaugrana are also struggling in the UEFA Champions League group stage as they were beaten by Bayern Munich and Benfica before they secured a 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv last week.

However, according to RAC1, former Barcelona captain, Xavi Hernández, is one of three candidates in the frame to replace Koeman.

The other two managers on Barcelona’s shortlist are River Plate’s Marcelo Gallardo and Barca B’s head coach, Sergi Barjuan, who is currently appointed as interim coach of Barcelona.
