Wenger reveals he was offered England job

Legendary Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has revealed he was offered the England national team job in 2016.

Wenger stepped down at the Emirates in 2018 after 22 years in charge of the Gunners.

After leaving Arsenal, the 71-year-old took on the role of FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development.

The Frenchman has now told The Telegraph he could have managed the Three Lions at the 2018 World Cup.

After Roy Hodgson left the role in 2016, Wenger was offered the job, he has confirmed.

When asked if 2016 was the last time the Football Association came calling, he said: “Yes, I think so.”
