Cape Verde vs Nigeria: Okoye reveals Super Eagles that will miss World Cup qualifier

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has said they will miss members of the squad who play in the Premier League, when they take on Cape Verde in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.

The UK-based players have been ruled out of the game, as Cape Verder is on the Red List of travel restrictions.

This means that two-goal hero Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, William Ekong, Oghenekaro Etebo and Joe Aribo will all not be available.

“We will miss them (the absentee players), but we have a big team and the other players can do the same.

“We will prepare as a team very well.

“It will be a good match against a good opponent in Cape Verde,” Okoye said.

Okoye kept a clean sheet in the first game of the series, as Nigeria beat Liberia 2-0 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Friday.
