Messi insists on ‘Argentina clause’ in PSG contract

Lionel Messi insisted on a clause in his Paris Saint-Germain contract, which will allow him to miss Ligue 1 games for Argentina matches, according to TyC Sports.

The 34-year-old on Tuesday, finalized a free transfer from Barcelona to the Ligue 1 club.

Messi has put pen to paper on a two-year deal which includes a telling detail.

He can leave for Argentina qualifiers or friendlies, even when they overlap with league fixtures in France.

Messi won the Copa America title this summer, finally lifting the international silverware to match Cristiano Ronaldo’s Euro 2016 glory.

However, the World Cup is the only one trophy missing from his cabinet.

Qatar 2022 is likely to be Messi’s final World Cup with his country, which is why he wants to be present for each meet-up on the road to next year’s tournament.
