Former Arsenal star, Ian Wright, and Newcastle legend, Alan Shearer, have tipped Chelsea to win this season’s Premier League title.
To them, Chelsea are the favourites to win the 2021/22 Premier League title, ahead of current champions, Manchester City.
Their reason is majorly because of the arrival of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.
While Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 on Saturday even without Lukaku, Manchester City fell 1-0 to Tottenham on Sunday.
Shearer and Wright pointed out that the signing of Lukaku might have tipped the scale in Chelsea’s favour.
“It will be a lot tighter this season than it was last season,” Shearer told BBC MOTD about the Premier League title race.
“And Lukaku I think will be a game-changer for Chelsea because he’s exactly what they needed a number of times last season, even today [v Crystal Palace].”
Asked to make his title race prediction, Shearer responded: “I’m going to go for Chelsea, [ahead of Manchester City] even if they get [Harry] Kane.”
Wright had a similar idea, adding: “I’m going to go for Chelsea as well, now that they’ve got Rom [Lukaku].”
