David Haye Announces Boxing Comeback At 40, His Opponent Is A Billionaire

David Haye will return to the ring and make his shock boxing comeback on September 11. Yes, you read that right.

What's more, Haye's opponent has already been lined up and it's a grudge match. Apparently.

So, Haye, 40, will face Joe Fournier on the undercard of Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort next month.

Haye vs. Fournier will be eight, three-minute rounds and will go down as a professional contest rather than an exhibition bout, according to MIke Coppinger.

Fournier, 38, is 9-0 as a professional but has fought no one of value. He last fought on Jake Paul's bill, beating musical artist Reykon.

He was even signed up to Haye's promotional company, but their relationship turned sour - with 'The Hayemaker' looking to make the billionaire-turned-boxer pay.

The former world heavyweight champion said: "This is not a comeback, this is about teaching Joe Fournier there are levels to the boxing game.

"One must stay in their lane or risk getting flattened. There are certain things in life you can't buy - Joe 'The Billionaire' Fournier needs to learn that.

"I was the heavyweight champion of the world just 10 years ago. I'm only 40. Joe is delusional. Champions are born not bought."

As for Fournier, who made a fortune in the fitness and nightclub industries, he plans to shock the world and knock out Haye.

He said: "I will shock the world and knock out David Haye.

"Unquestionably one of the hardest challenges of my life, but this is the perfect fight at the perfect time for me.

"Haye is riddled with injuries, 10 years past his prime. I was a late starter to this pro boxing game - now I'm coming into my fighting prime.

"I'm healthy, motivated, and ready to prove a point to Haye that on September 11, I will be victorious."

Haye vs. Fournier joins the aforementioned De La Hoya vs. Belfort, and the stacked card also boasts a clash between a pair of former UFC champions in Anderson Silva vs. Tito Ortiz.
