Erik Lamela has done a medical in Spain after Tottenham and Sevilla fully agreed the swap deal involving Bryan Gil.
The 20-year-old winger is currently part of Spain’s team at the Tokyo Olympics and will complete his move to Spurs after their participation.
Spain are currently top of their group after two games and will progress to the knockouts if they beat Argentina on Wednesday, but they could also be knocked out if they lose and Australia win against Egypt.
The swap deal that has been finalised will also see Spurs pay Sevilla a fee in the region of £21m for Gil, who is a friend of Spurs left-back Sergio Reguilon.
Lamela is set to end an eight-year spell at Tottenham having been signed from Roma with the money from Gareth Bale’s then world-record £86m move to Real Madrid in 2013.
