Social Distancing Measures Were In Full Effect For Thomas Muller's Contract Renewal

Thomas Muller's contract extension with Bayern Munich was announced today but the club still had social distancing measures in place.

The Bayern legend, who has 195 goals for the club, has extended his stay with at the Allianz Arena until 2023 after the Bavarian giants confirmed the news on social media.

But due to the coronavirus outbreak, they had to do things a little different when it came to the customary contract renewal pictures.

Instead, they had Muller in the middle with the Bayern shirt and then executive board member Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić standing a reasonable distance away either side.

It might have looked a little awkward but after all, precautionary measures had to be taken given the current climate.

Reflecting on his new deal, the World Cup winner told the club's official website: "Both sides signed with an absolutely good feeling. I am sure that if the ball rolls again, we will continue to be very successful.

"That spurs me on. For me it was number one priority to extend at Bayern - and the club saw it the same way.

"I'm already at FC Bayern for a good two thirds of my life, so you can't say that I accompany the club or he accompanies me - we fight for each other.

"For me, this association is not just any employer. It is my passion. I am happy that I will be here two years longer and will give my all on the pitch and next to it."

On Monday Muller and Bayern returned to training for the first time since the Bundesliga was suspended but did so in small groups.
