Jermaine Jenas In Frame To Succeed Gary Lineker As Face Of 'Match Of The Day'

Jermaine Jenas has been earmarked as the primary candidate to replace Gary Lineker as the face of Match of the Day.

England legend Lineker has fronted the BBC's football coverage since 1999, when he took over from Des Lynam.

The Daily Mail say the former Spurs and Barcelona man is still viewed in high regard by those high up at BBC but there is talk of him presenting a quiz show on ITV in the near future.

And while there's no exact timeframe of when Lineker will be moving onto pastures new, it's said that Jenas is ahead of Gabby Logan in the pecking order to replace Lineker and it could come in the next two years.

Former Newcastle and Spurs midfielder Jenas has been a regular pundit on Match of the Day alongside Lineker, as well as BT Sport's Champions League and Premier League coverage.

He is also the current host of MOTDx, a football show aimed at a younger audience on BBC 2, and his work has impressed executives within the BBC.

Views on the potential future changes on MOTD have been mixed, with opinions split:
