Marco Silva sacked by Everton after Liverpool defeat

0
Everton have officially announced the exit of Coach Marco Silva after yesterday's 5-2 loss against Liverpool. Silva was at the Finch Farm training ground earlier today and was relieved of his duties in a meeting with majority owner Farhad Moshiri, Bill Kenwright and director of football Marcel Brands.

The players were informed of the club's decision after training today and former Everton boss David Moyes is the favourite to take over.

A list of also noted candidates are Eddie Howe, Mikel Arteta, Erik ten Hag and Leonardo Jardim but a caretaker manager is set to be appointed for Saturday's match against Chelsea.

Everton have secured just four wins in their 15 Premier League games so far this campaign and are only being kept off the bottom of the table by Watford and Norwich.

They are a point adrift of safety ahead of Chelsea's visit to Merseyside and will follow that game up with top-flight fixtures against Manchester United and Arsenal.

Everton must also take on Leicester in a Carabao Cup quarter-final which completes a daunting run ahead of Burnley's trip to Goodison Park on Boxing Day.
