Man United Can Win Trophies This Season - Jesse Lingard

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has set a target for the Red Devils to win at least a trophy this season. United have struggled to impress so far this season winning just three of 13 Premier League matches.

The Red Devils face Aston Villa tomorrow (Sunday) as they look to move into the four spots.

After just two wins in their last eight matches in the Premier League, United are currently ninth on the table.

However, Lingard believes there is still more for the Red Devils and claims they can also win a trophy.

“There's always that hunger and fight for positions and obviously it goes down to form and where you're at club wise so, for me, it's about getting back to the Jesse that everyone knows and the Jesse Lingard that I know,” he said.

“Things can affect that on the pitch, off the pitch, but mentality is key, confidence is key and belief is key.

“I’m a player who likes to score goals, make assists and, for me, I need to get back to that, back to my best and I feel I'm slowly but surely getting back there.

“For club, my ambition is definitely a trophy. We've worked so hard last season, this season we started off well.

“A trophy is in our sights and we have to concentrate on winning a trophy, getting that winning feeling by lifting a trophy.”

Lingard has dropped out of the team in recent weeks and has had - by his standards - a sub-par start to the season.

The 26-year-ld has started only four times in the league, and is yet to score or provide an assist in any of those games.
