Liverpool vs Arsenal: Real reason Ozil will not play in EPL clash

Mesut Ozil is said to have withdrawn from Arsenal’s squad for the trip to Liverpool, because of a knee injury, the UK Metro reports.

Ozil made his first Premier League start in six weeks in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Burnley at the Emirates.

And the 30-year-old also started the Boxing Day clash with Brighton, but only played 45 minutes, before being replaced at half-time.

Emery is said to have concerns about playing Ozil in intense away matches and he was not spotted arriving on Merseyside with the rest of the Arsenal squad on Friday evening.

But his absence is believed to be due to a minor knee problem.

Ozil trained with the Arsenal squad on Friday morning, but is said to have complained of pain in his knee following the session.
