Jose Mourinho will be sacked by Manchester United, even if they beat Newcastle United on Saturday, after losing the confidence of the board, reports claim.
The Portuguese has endured a miserable start to the season at the helm of the Red Devils and his mood continues to sour.
After a miserable press conference on Friday, where he refused to give any assurances
that he was capable of turning the club around, United chiefs are now
preparing to wield the axe and end his stay in Manchester.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and other board members have been
unimpressed by the way he’s alienated players, fans and staff and they
believe there is no way back for the former Chelsea and Real Madrid
boss.
And they will sack him regardless of whether they beat Newcastle or not, according to the Mirror.
The
0-0 home draw against Valencia is said to have convinced the board that
he was not the man to lead to club forward and the hierarchy have opted
to make a change.
Zinedine Zidane is the favourite to replace Mourinho, having left Real Madrid at the end of last season.
