Mark Lawrenson predicts Arsenal vs Chelsea, Southampton vs Man United

Former Liverpool player, Mark Lawrenson has predicted Sunday’s Premier League clash between Chelsea and Arsenal and Southampton vs Manchester United.

Arsenal will host Chelsea at Emirates Stadium in their second Premier League tie, while Man United will face Southampton in an away Premier League tie.

Mikel Arteta’s side head to the game after a 2-0 defeat to Brentford in their last game, while Chelsea won 3-0 against Crystal Palace.

Man United, meanwhile, defeated Leeds United 5-1 at Old Trafford in their last game.

Providing his Predictions, Lawrenson told BBC Sport, “It’s going to be interesting to see how Chelsea’s new £97.5m striker Romelu Lukaku fits into their side, and whether Arsenal can stop him.

Mikel Arteta has not taken charge of many Gunners games in front of a full stadium and, the last time he did, he was not under the same pressure he is facing now.

“What he does not need in his situation is to lose two consecutive matches, especially to two London clubs, which I always think makes it worse. Arsenal 1, Chelsea 1.”

Commenting on the Southampton vs Man United game, Lawrenson said, “Last season, Manchester United made a habit of recovering to win after falling behind away from home and St Mary’s was one of the places they did it, thanks to two late Edinson Cavani goals.

Saints have to spend some of the money they got for them on strengthening their team – otherwise, it looks like it is going to be a tough season for them. Southampton 0, Man United 2.”

The kick-off time for Arsenal vs Chelsea is 4.30 pm, while Southampton vs Man United is 2 pm.
